On Thursday afternoon about 100 plus people voiced their displeasure over a development plan that would involve 20 acres of the Passionists’ Retreat.
The residents chose Thursday afternoon as a group of realtors was invited to the Retreat Center to hear of their plans.
Apparently, according to a report on Sierra Madre Tattler, realtors were given a piece of paper on Passionist letterhead seeking realtors’ support. It reads
“Support for Mater Doloraosa:
“I recognize the potential benefits to Sierra Madre of a new, well-planned residential neighborhood that is compatible with the existing look and feel of our town, and encourage the city council to give the proposed development of 20 acres of the 88-acre Mater Dolorosa Passionist Retreat Center their fair and impartial consideration.”
No indication was given how many signed the document.
