Today the Sierra Madre City Council announced in a statement that it would be holding a special emergency meting in the City Hall Council Chambers to discuss the possibility of declaring a local emergency in the wake of continued record rainfall and accompanying debris flow and mudslides.

In the special meeting agenda issued this morning, city staffers are recommending the approval of Resolution No. 10-07 “Proclaiming the Existence of a Local Emergency”. The meeting will be held today, Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 5:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers located at 232 West Sierra Madre Blvd.

This meeting is open to members of the public and time will be allotted near the beginning of the session to allow public input on the single agenda item slated for discussion.
