A Sierra Madre Police Sergeant was dismissed during the Closed Session at the City Council Meeting on July 14.
In response to a request for information related to the dismissal, City Manager Elaine Aguilar said that “personnel matters are confidential, and we really can’t say anything. People have a right to privacy.” No further information was able to be obtained about the dismissal.
According to Federal District Court Filings, John Ellins, a SMPD officer, filed a lawsuit against the City of Sierra Madre and Marilyn Diaz. The suit was filed on June 3, 2009 under the category of “Civil Rights – Employment.”
Marilyn Diaz is the current police Chief of the Sierra Madre Police Department. She was the first female police chief in L.A. County.
Someone that thinks that J Ellins is attractive and that is a reason to keep him is in the dark about what constitutes legal termination.
When someone is bringing lawsuit, it takes brass balls to terminate them. That means you have to have a solid case for it, because if not, the amount of money you could lose could be more than significant. To anyone lookiing in from the outside, it would look like retaliation, so your case for termination better be solid. Perhaps you should all realize that ample quantifiable reason was had, Thus Sierra Madre is free of a loose canon, badge heavy officer.
Marilyn Diaz needs mandatory psychological counseling. She clearly has shown an interest in this officer and needs to accept personal rejection. Look him up on the net, he’s hot, sexy and hot, hot, hot. He clearly does not have an interest in her and Diaz knows no personal boundaries. She also shows an extreme lack of professionalism as well as a lack of concern for her job. Wasting the tax payers money on her personal psychological problems is just simply embarrassing.
This department will get sued and will cost the city alot of money. The city needs to be covered by LASD and everone will be happy with the cost and the service. The city Needs to get rid of the Police Dept. and get the boys in tan ‘n green in there to do the job this police dept can not do…The city needs to get rid of DIAZ she is costing the city money every day she is office.
Its time to get Diaz out of Sierra Madre before she bankrupts the city. She’s to costly, with all of these lawsuits and litigations.
Sierra Madre’s thin blue line is well on the way to suing itself into exciting new careers guarding Wal*Mart parking lots.
